What to do when the hubby is having a coronary whilst watching his beloved Tigers play footy and kiddies sleeping....
I Decided it was time to try and catch up on some of my BOMs , so spent a lovely evening appliqueing a Noah's block and a little Maccas farm block.

Tis the life .....
The life of a foster carer and quilter .... A maybe baby that will definitely need a special quilt of his own .
Block 1 done ,11 to go hopefully before/ if he arrives here.
Because if he does come I'm sure my sewing time will be a lot less :) But lots of baby cuddles will make up for that :)
If he doesn't end up coming the bonus will be a gorgeous baby boy quilt waiting for someone special!!!!

Books!!!
The last few weeks have seen me reading more than sewing ... It's funny I never find time to do both well so usually gravitate towards one.
I have never wanted an e reader but this year have read a few books on my iPhone out of convenience... Way to easy to go to the iBooks store and download books in seconds :)
The past few days I have been reading Bloom by Kelle Hampton . A memoir from a very talented writer, photographer and mother about the shock of her daughter having down syndrome . It is a beautiful book with gorgeous pictures a story that in parts made me cry but mostly smile . I loved it and highly recommend it !!!!

Star light Star Bright
Not much sewing has been happening here the last couple of weeks :(
I have been feeling very uninspired and have been reading more than seeing in my spare time.....
But last night inspiration struck and I started a new project ..... So now I have a 6 pointed star and maybe many more one day .
I have seen a few English paper pieces Star quilts in blog land and hopefully mine will be just as pretty!!!

Miss Lily's quilt
I finished this one off a while ago but Lil put it straight on her bed and then I forgot .
It really is a special feeling when I'm making beds to have a quilt I made on all the kids beds .... Even our new little miss has one in her cot :)
Back to this quilt it's made from a layer cake of Ruby and some white homespun and added some Ruby yardage as borders to make it a bit bigger. Such a simple pattern that I think comes out great!!!

Early morning sewing
I was up early this morning and inspiration struck !!!!
My Ruby layer cake is now sliced and ready to make the "Hidden Stars" quilt.
I'm thinking that this quilt will be for Miss Lily's bed .
Feels good to have it cut and ready to go, as I was having trouble deciding on which quilt to make . There are so many nice jelly roll/ layer cake patterns in my books :) Tis okay will just have to make another couple later on .....

Angels Story - Block 1
This is what angels Zoe and Prudence looked like this afternoon...., they were already to be put together and ironed down.
I have since fixed them up so they are now waiting for the stitchery and button holing .
I have been slack with my night time hand stitching ,so will have to get back into that - starting today.

Needle turn attempt
Before starting my A Christmas Story quilt I had to decide whether I would needle turn or buttonhole the appliqués .... So I thought I better see If I could Needleturn .
So pulled out some scrap and made myself a pear. I don't think I did too bad for my first attempt
So Needleturn it is :)
